J. James Gallagher
Chairman of the Board
James Gallagher is the Chairman of the Board of Elliott Cove Capital Management, a registered investment advisory firm, and the manager of Cashel House Investments, LLC, a principal owner of Elliott Cove. Prior to founding the Company, Mr. Gallagher was Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Banking System, Inc., the parent holding company for Columbia Bank. Mr. Gallagher served as Vice Chairman of Columbia Banking System, Inc. and of Columbia Bank from 1998 to 2002.
Mr. Gallagher was formerly a principal in the law firm of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim, PLLC of Tacoma and Seattle, WA and in the Law Firm of Graham & Dunn in Seattle, Washington. He led the financial institution practice of each firm during his tenure. For 30 years, his practice included representation of large and small financial institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest, with an emphasis on bank regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, and securities compliance. Prior to practicing law, he was with the Office of the United State Comptroller of the Currency, the administrator of national banks in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Gallagher received a B.A. degree from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, both in Washington, D.C. Mr. Gallagher has been active in the American Bar Association’s Banking Law Committee (prior Chairman of the Community Bank Section), and served on the board of the Washington Bankers Association. In addition, Mr. Gallagher has been active as a board member and officer of various civic and professional organizations.
